Description
A vacancy exists for an Academic Affairs Manager, reporting to the National Education Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the academic affairs of the student journey for the HEQSF aligned qualifications with the intention of creating a sustainable pipeline of competent qualified nurses to meet the needs of LHC and external healthcare providers within the current professional and legislative environment.
Critical Outputs
Key Performance Indicator:
Responsible for the line management of the programme managers and regional education managers to ensure high-quality and consistent standards of academic delivery across all 7 learning centres by fulfilling the below governance and quality assurance, academic planning, programme review, research, staff development and engagement activities.
Governance & Quality Assurance
Responsible for the planning, monitoring, evaluating and reporting of the processes and performance indicators in the student journey for HEQSF aligned qualifications.
Accountable for the compilation and submission of the HEQSF aligned qualification re-accreditation submissions to SANC.
Accountable for planning conducting and reporting on policy & WP development and review related to learning, teaching and assessment.
Accountable for the exam commission and exam appeal committee planning, chairing and record keeping per exam session.
Responsible for ensuring that deferrals and IR student matters are managed appropriately and fairly.
Accountable for monitoring SANC processes – student registrations; terminations and completions.
Academic Planning
Responsible for the annual academic plan with Programme Managers and the Research Manager.
Accountable for the academic workload distribution.
Provide consultation for planning new HEQSF-aligned and non-aligned qualifications and learning material.
Responsible for the selection and review of learning resources aligned to programmes offered (Eg: journal offering, software, etc) – with E-Learning Manager
Programme Review
Plan, manage, report on programme reviews scheduled for the academic year.
Research
Contribute to research and scholarship within the Nursing College.
Staff Development
Plan, manage, evaluate, and report on educator competency development.
Plan and implement the onboarding programme for Regional Education Managers, programme managers, and educators.
Engagement
Accountable for planning, evaluating and reporting on stakeholder engagement: clinical facilities, community projects.
Responsible for planning, managing and reporting on the SRC portfolio.
Accountable for the student support service provision.
Requirements
Relevant undergraduate degree in nursing
Diploma or degree: Nursing Education and Management.
Nursing related masters’ degree
Experience: At least 5 years’ experience in an nursing education management position in higher education
Current registration with the South African Nursing Council
Understanding of the nursing education and higher education landscape, private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players
Computer proficiency
Driver’s license and ability to travel
