Data Team Leader
We are recruiting for a UK-based client, who is looking to hire South African staff based in Cape Town. Our client is a specialist group of companies, providing a unique service of financial benefits to contractors and corporate clients. The chosen candidate will start at the Cape Town offices, and this will change to a remote/work from home arrangement when the client feels they are ready.
Position Overview
An exciting hands-on position, responsible for the data operations of the team, helping to develop the use of data to drive business performance; collecting, reporting and analysing data, ensuring that all business management, finance and performance systems meet business needs.
The team leader will manage a team that focuses on ETL process, the analysis of processes, quality, sales and opportunities within the Group. The principles of the team will be to maintain high data quality standards, implement data governance, data compliance, improve and add automation ETL processes that improves the quality, speed, and reliability of the services provided.
Principal Responsibilities
Commercial
Develop automated solutions for data input and data integration
Analyse data and deliver competitive sales leads and business intelligence
Report and analyse data, ensuring that all business management, finance and performance systems meet business needs
Maintain, Design and Deliver ETL processes using SSIS & Azure Data Factory.
Manage the ongoing development and delivery of all BI related projects across IN-SYNC Group
Build and maintain batch reporting and test framework
Proactively identify new technologies which will improve the delivery of BI solutions
Report and analyse data ensuring that all business management, finance and performance systems meet business needs
Resource Management
Agree and implement productivity levels through the team, ensuring they meet needs of the business
Provide on-going feedback to team members to facilitate continuous personal development and success
Address performance issues in a pro-active, fair and timely manner
Deliver to defined timelines in order to meet business requirements
Support and train other members of the team
Communication
Provide feedback to management of potential improvements to existing procedures and systems
Work as part of the IT team, to achieve the departmental standards and objectives
Work effectively with other departments within the Group to maintain excellent standards of service
Knowledge
Maintain an excellent level of understanding and knowledge of IN-SYNC Groups’ products and services in order to fully understand process and delivering requirements
Take responsibility for own personal development in line with agreed performance objectives
Support colleagues and team members with investigating and resolving product and services issues.
Background / Experience Required
Essential:
Excellent knowledge of SQL, SSRS, SSIS, ETL, Power BI and AI/ML (Azure)
Experience with Azure Data Factory
Highly Experienced with Power BI
Strong experience/knowledge in Data, analytics, reporting and development
Commercially aware and focused with experience of working with financial data
Ability to cope and deliver in a demanding, fast paced environment
Demonstrable understanding of data management and best practices
Customer, stakeholder focus and management skills with experience of leading a technical team
Exposure to Agile working practices
Experience of successfully interacting with key business stakeholders
Well-developed communication skills, both written and verbal
Able to demonstrate drive and a positive approach to work
Resilient and proactive with a flexible approach and strong time management skills
Any Exposure to Python scripting would also be beneficial
