About the Organisation
The mission of the Alternative Information & Development Centre (AIDC) is to produce and promote alternative knowledge and analysis which enables popular movements for social, economic and ecological justice to engage with the intersecting crises flowing from the natural, economic and social challenges confronting humanity. AIDC focuses on providing analysis for the root causes of unemployment, inequality and other social issues that government and other policy fails to address and truly solve.
About the Job
AIDC seeks to appoint an experienced social justice or community development professional with experience leading programmes from conception, to proposal, to implementation and reporting. The successful candidate will be passionate about a progressive perspective that challenges institutional inequality and structural unemployment. Reporting to and supporting the incoming Director, the candidate will have experience with fundraising, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning and best practices generally in the development sector.
Key Responsibilities
Develop fund raising strategy and implement innovative funding solutions and build credibility with current AIDC funding pertners;
Raise sufficient and appropriate funds against the budget for the operations and development of the organization through participating in relevant fundraising activities;
Keep funders updated on developments in the organisation and respond to funder requests timeously;
Develop a comprehensive monitoring and Evaluation Strategy for AIDC;
Supervise quarterly organizational reflection sessions to ensure that all program implementation work is properly monitored;
Participate in developing Terms of Reference for all Evaluation processes;
Develop AIDC human resource policies and be responsible for recruitment of staff
Develop and Implement staff well being policy and ensure that AIDC complies with all current labour relations laws within the country.
Attend regular board meetings as scheduled and prepare regular organizational reports as required by the board
Requirements
5 years’ management experience in an NGO or development organisation
Experience with donor liaison, including a track record of successful proposal development and resource mobilisation
Senior experience with development of monitoring and evaluation strategies in human rights or social justice spheres
Good knowledge of economic and ecological issues facing South African population at large, including government policy on these issues
Demonstrated experience managing staff to achieve programmatic goals
Ability to produce deep analysis on government policy and challenge traditional analysis
