Description
We are a Cape Town–based building and maintenance company providing reliable, high-quality repair, renovation and property maintenance services across the Western Cape. We support residential, commercial and sectional title properties with fast, professional and cost-effective solutions.
We are seeking a qualified and dependable Independent Electrical Contractor to support maintenance, installations, fault-finding and compliance work across a range of residential and commercial properties. This is not a permanent employment position. The contractor will operate independently, provide their own tools/transport, and invoice for services rendered in accordance with South African independent contractor legislation.
Key Responsibilities
Perform electrical installations, repairs and general maintenance on wiring, lighting, distribution boards, plug points, appliances and related systems.
Diagnose and resolve electrical faults, including tripping circuits, power outages, damaged wiring, and overloaded systems.
Conduct electrical inspections and issue Certificates of Compliance (CoCs) where work and installations meet all legal standards.
Respond to emergency call-outs and ensure fast turnaround to minimise disruption for tenants and clients.
Work from technical drawings, plans and specifications to complete installations accurately and safely.
Coordinate with other contractors (plumbing, building, carpentry) when required for multi-disciplinary maintenance work.
Maintain accurate job records, including work completed, materials used, and time spent, for invoicing and compliance purposes.
Ensure all work adheres to relevant South African laws and standards, including OHS regulations, SANS 10142, and municipal electrical bylaws.
Contractor Requirements
Qualified and registered Electrician (Trade Test / Red Seal).
Must hold a valid Wireman’s Licence (Registered with DoL).
Must be authorised to issue Electrical Certificates of Compliance (CoCs).
Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience, ideally in property maintenance or facilities management.
Valid South African driver’s licence and reliable transport suitable for carrying tools and equipment.
Strong fault-finding ability and capacity to work independently without supervision.
Excellent communication skills and a professional, client-focused approach.
Reliability, punctuality, and consistent high-quality workmanship.
Basic computer or mobile app literacy for job cards, reports or invoicing (advantageous).
