Ostra, a distinguished Champagne & Oyster Bar and vibrant Mediterranean Social Club, is seeking an experienced and innovative Sous Chef to join our esteemed culinary team. As a pivotal support to our Executive Chef, the Sous Chef will help lead our kitchen operations and contribute to our reputation for exceptional Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. Situated in the heart of the Hazelwood, Ostra offers a unique blend of lively social atmosphere and culinary excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

•Assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including menu planning and ingredient selection.
•Ensure the highest quality of food preparation and presentation.
•Supervise and coordinate the activities of the kitchen staff to ensure efficient and harmonious operations.
•Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain budget and quality standards.
•Train and mentor kitchen staff, fostering a culture of learning and excellence.
•Enforce strict health, hygiene, and safety standards in all cooking and food storage areas.
•Handle daily administrative tasks, including scheduling, and contribute to performance evaluations.
•Develop new dishes and update menu offerings based on seasonal availability and current trends.
•Address and resolve any issues related to staff or food quality, ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests.
•Prepare and report on food costs, optimizing expenses while maintaining quality.

Qualifications:

•Diploma in Culinary Arts from an accredited institution.
•Proven experience as a Sous Chef in high-end restaurants or with Michelin star exposure.
•Strong knowledge of Mediterranean cuisine and advanced cooking techniques.
•Excellent leadership, time management, and organizational skills.
•Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment while maintaining creativity and attention to detail.
•Passionate about food and delivering outstanding guest experiences.
