Description

The Directorate of Curriculum Development and Support (CDS) in Higher Education Development
and Support has a one-year fixed term contract Instructional Designer (ID) position available at
the Giyani campus (however, the incumbent may be allocated to or be stationed at any of
other the TUT campuses as and when the need arises).
INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants are required to submit together with the CVs, a fully completed
standardized application form available from the university intranet as well as recently certified
copies of qualifications and identity documents. Failure to comply with this instruction will
disqualify the candidate. Further, note that candidates may be expected to make a presentation
or undergo competency testing. Applicants who previously applied are encouraged to
reapply. Kindly note that these positions are open exclusively to Limpopo Province
residents therefore, applicants primarily residing in the said Province will be given priority.
Critical Performance Areas:
• Design and develop fully online modules within the LMS, ensuring pedagogical
soundness and alignment with learning outcomes.
• Build and structure module content, including multimedia resources, assessments,
quizzes, assignments, and interactive learning activities within the LMS (e.g., Canvas).
• Conduct thorough quality assurance checks for module content, ensuring it adheres to
institutional standards, accessibility guidelines (e.g., Quality Matters), and best
usability practices.
• Work collaboratively with subject matter experts (SMEs), instructional designers,
curriculum development practitioners and other stakeholders to translate module
outcomes into engaging, interactive, and pedagogically sound online content.
• Update and revise module content as needed to reflect changes in curriculum, new
instructional strategies, or technological enhancements.
• Manage multiple projects and draw up project proposals, plans, budgets, financial
statements and reports related to technology-enhanced learning and teaching.
• Actively participate in the empowerment of staff, students and external clients
regarding the use of technology in teaching and learning.

JOB SPECIFICATION/MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Qualification
• A relevant Masters Degree qualification in computer-based education, educational
technology, instructional design, media science, eLearning or another related
discipline

Professional registration
• N/A
Experience (minimum)
• Relevant teaching, eLearning and instructional design experience (preferably in
higher education).
• Demonstrated experience in computer-integrated education, eLearning (hybrid,
blended and fully online distance education), instructional design, educational
technology, technology enhanced education, fully online education, media science,
didactics or a related discipline.
• Experience in building modules in the LMS will be an added advantage.
