Description
The Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Information and Communication
Technology at Tshwane University of Technology invites applications for a Lecturer
position. This is a one year fixed-term contract based at Giyani Campus. The position
has been identified as an internal advert available to all employees with active service
records who meet the requirements below:
Key performance areas/Core functions:
• To provide lecturing services for the following content: Computing Fundamentals
with A+ and or N+ and/or Cloud Computing.
• Other lecturing duties, e.g., Invigilating, marking scripts, processing marks, on
learning management system, assessing/moderating, online material development,
and video development.
• Attend academic activities, such as meetings, mentorship, tutorship, panel
interviews, workshops, and events.
• Establish/ participate in ICT-related community engagement project(s).
• Other relevant academic duties as required by the faculty, e.g., curriculum review
and development, module coordination, and content development.
• Coordinate programmes and perform administrative duties
Minimum requirements:
Academic qualifications:
• NQF level 9 - A relevant master’s degree in Computing
Experience:
• 3 years relevant teaching experience in Teaching and/or 3 years’ experience in
industry lecturing experience in Computing Fundamentals, and/or 3-year Industry
experience
• Experience in foundation-level teaching is a strong recommendation
• NB: Student assistant or tutoring experience doesn’t qualify as lecturing
experience
Knowledge and Skills
• Ability for computer programming in Java: computational logical thinking and
problem solving, programming concepts, data processing, calculations in algorithms
selection statements, loops, methods, OOP, predefined classes/methods, JDK 8,
etc.
• Ability for computational mathematics: algebra, numerical methods/theory, stats,
algorithms, logic, etc.
• It will be to the applicant’s advantage if they have already completed TUT internal
training for part-time lecturing, assessment and moderation, and curriculum
development.
