A vacancy exists for a Locum Rehabilitation Doctor at the acute Rehabilitation Unit at Life Eugene Marais Hospital in Gauteng, Pretoria.
The Life Rehabilitation Unit at Life Eugene Marais Hospital is part of an expanding network of rehabilitation units within Life Healthcare. The post holder will report to the (Rehabilitation Practice Manager/Clinic Manager/Hospital Manager) and will be expected to provide holistic clinical services at the rehabilitation unit to all patients admitted to the rehabilitation unit.
Critical Outputs
Clinical assessment and daily management of patients admitted to the unit
This is a locum position thus, sharing of weekends (availability Friday 18h00 to Monday 06h00), public holidays and in the week when permanent Doctor is on leave.
In this position the Locum Doctor needs to be available on short notice e.g. during and when the permanent Doctor is on leave, even if this only consists of limited available hours on site and the rest telephonically.
After hour telephonic on-call support and on-site emergency care.
Participation in family meetings, team goal setting and rehab plan review meetings. Telephone Ethics- As telephonic feedback to families is acceptable when not physically available.
Compliance to company policies, formulary and anti-microbial stewardship programmes.
Participating in compiling of patient reports to funders and referring doctors.
Promote and maintain sound and productive relationships with Doctors and stakeholders in the field of Rehabilitation.
Requirements
An MBBCH or MBChB, current registration with the HPCSA as a medical doctor.
Current indemnity and malpractice insurance
Hospital-based clinical experience in acute rehabilitation, neurology, orthopaedics and/or general medicine will be an advantage.
Experience in leading a team of professionals and successfully providing clinical supervision to professionals will be an advantage.
excellent interpersonal skills are important for the position.
Experience in multi-disciplinary care.
