Description
An exciting vacancy exists for a National Oncology Manager based at Life Healthcare Head Office in Dunkeld, Rosepark reporting to the Senior Business Manager: New Business. The successful candidate will be integral to executing the growth and expansion strategies of the Oncology business, setting and/or maintaining standards, policies and procedures, efficiency of all processes, as well as driving quality, patient experience and implementation of strategic tactics.
Critical Outputs
Growth and Expansion:
Implementation and execution of strategic tactics across the full continuum of cancer care aligned with Life Oncology vision
Together with relevant operations execute tactics to leverage available capacity at radiotherapy and chemotherapy units
Investigate and execute accreditation of accreditation processes and programmes (aligned to strategic imperatives) together with relevant operations and other stakeholders
Investigate expansion and diversification of oncology treatments across the cancer continuum of care
Drive expansion of in-hospital care–engage with Life operations for potential expansion opportunities
Support Life Operations with the recruitment of cancer specialty physicians including medical, surgical and oncology
Support expansion of the Life Oncology network
Marketing related:
Provide subject matter expertise to Life Marketing to assist with development of oncology marketing and communication material aimed at promoting Life Oncology whilst supporting patients and their caregivers
Provide subject matter expertise in development of patient education and information tools and tactics across diverse channels, for example printed, digital
Build and maintain key stakeholders’ relationships requires regular face to face engagement across the Life Healthcare network
Develop tools and channels to support patients, their caregivers, and the community, for example, support groups
Equipment:
Work with procurement and, where required, engage with vendors to help facilitate procurement of new equipment
Research and facilitate the implementation of new diagnostic and treatment options along the cancer continuum of care
Monitoring compliance with service and maintenance in collaboration with operations and engineering
Processes and Efficiency
Identifying opportunities for optimising equipment and resource efficiencies
Streamlining work and processes in the units
Driving consistency in standards, policies, and processes across all units
People:
Support in developing and implementing a value proposition for Life Oncology employees
Identify and assist relevant Life Healthcare teams and divisions with upskilling of staff involved in patient care across the cancer continuum of care
Plan and execute Work Skills Plan (WSP) and CPD and another in-service in corporation with relevant operations and divisions
Units accredited as training facilities for university students
Support staff with seeking opportunities to upskill and develop further including research projects, local and international courses/studying etc.
Mentor staff (specific to Life staff working within services across the cancer care continuum)
Quality
Development:
Development, refining and execution of oncology quality scorecard
Development, refining and execution of oncology outcome measures
Standardisation of treatment protocols
Implement strategies to support and monitor and improve excellent patient experience
Risk assessment tools aligned with Life risk tools
Development and execution of Work Procedures/Policies/ standardisation
Audit:
Mentoring and providing support to the units and when required performing verification audits for oncology related BSI including radiotherapy
Ensuring legal compliance within the units to DOH e.g.: radiation medicals
Implement and operationalise accreditation efforts (together with relevant Life Operations teams)
Sustainability
Financial:
Assist with strategies to improve reporting across the group on treatment types/techniques/codes
Requirements
Degree in Radiography and Registration with HPCSA or Oncology-Trained Registered Nurse
At least 5-7 years in a management role in an Oncology unit and/or business
Extensive experience, both operational and strategic, in managing an Oncology portfolio and/or division
Proven track record of performance in an oncology environment, including driving growth, quality, patient, and other stakeholder experience
Adaptable, resilient and results focused
Strong communication skills (both written and oral) as well as excellent presentation skills
An understanding of the private healthcare/hospital industry
Open to national travel
