Description

The ideal candidate must be organized, hands-on, and comfortable working in a busy yard environment
coordinating deliveries of steel products

Requirements:

Matric (Grade 12) essential

Minimum 2-3 years transport or logistics experience (steel industry experience highly advantageous)

Knowledge of load planning, Trip sheets, and securing loads

Strong communication and coordination skills

Ability to work under pressure and meet customer deadlines

Computer literate (MS Office; experience with delivery tracking systems advantageous)

Valid driver’s license and own vehicle preferred

Must reside in Cape Town, close to Wetton

Able to work retail hours (including Saturdays and Public Holidays on a roster basis from 8 to 13:00)

Responsibilities:

Coordinate deliveries and collections of steel products (flat bar, round bar, tube, sheet, angle iron,
etc.)

Communicate daily with drivers and manage trip schedules

Plan loads efficiently based on weights, lengths, delivery routes, and customer priorities

Ensure correct dispatch documentation accompanies loads (delivery notes, PODs)

Monitor fleet maintenance schedules for trucks and bakkies

Arrange services, breakdown repairs, and general fleet maintenance

Track fuel usage, mileage, and driver performance

Assist with route optimization to control fuel and transport costs

Work closely with the sales and warehouse teams to prioritize urgent deliveries

Maintain accurate transport records and reports
