Description
The Department of Chemical, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering require the services of two (2x)
Part time Lecturers specializing in numerical methods and computational techniques at the Pretoria
Campus.
Critical performance arrears
• BEngTech project problem formulation and scoping
• BEngTech project research design and methodology development.
• BEngTech project student supervision
• Aligning with institutional and accreditation ECSA standards e.g., Assessment design (rubrics for
projects, reports, presentations), and ECSA graduate attributes.
• Participating in departmental meetings.
• Responsible for administrative task related to teaching and learning.
• Responsible and play a prominent role in the compiling and maintenance of quality
documentations, subject files and other Teaching and Learning with technology materials. Roles
also includes mentorship, quality audits, constant revision, and update of materials in line with
industry norms and engineering council regulations.
• Participate in and lead departmental, faculty and institutional initiatives in collaboration with
Technology Stations, Centres, Institutes and Research Niche Areas.
• Liaise with industry on course and subject levels regarding curricula, visits, research and other
interactions.
• Responsible for independent research and innovation projects and associated funding.
• Involvement with Community engagement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Academic Qualifications:
• Masters (MEng/MSc/MTech) in Chemical / Metallurgical Engineering (NQF level 9).
• Undergraduate degree in Chemical / Metallurgical Engineering.
Experience:
• 3 years’ relevant teaching experience at a tertiary institution and/or 3 years relevant industry
experience.
• Experience in the application of Numerical methods and computational techniques
• Experience in the application of simulation tools (e.g., DWSIM, ASPEN Plus, CHEMCAD, Open
Foam, COMSOL, MATLAB, Python etc.)
• Academic/research outputs in accredited journals and peer-reviewed conferences.
• Experience with regards to management of academic matters, quality of
programs, student affairs and research projects.
Knowledge and skills
• Proficiency in online teaching and learning platforms.
• Ability to perform research, teaching, and administration simultaneously.
• Experience with ECSA Graduate Attributes (GAs)
Registration with professional body (if applicable)
• Registration with ECSA in the appropriate professional category will be an advantage.
