Job Description
The SAMRC’s Environment and Health Research Unit (E&HRU) requires an enthusiastic and suitably qualified Postdoctoral Research Fellow. The position is associated with the research project CliMMetA (Climate, Muscle function and Metabolomics in Africa), funded by the Medical Research Foundation in the UK. This project includes data from three countries - The Gambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. The individual will be jointly supervised by the study co-principal investigators from SAMRC in South Africa and the University of Bristol in the UK and based at SAMRC in Pretoria. To meet the requirements of this post, we require a person with a qualification in epidemiology / biostatistics / medical statistics or related relevant field.
Responsibilities:
Assist with co-ordination of study activities and tasks
Data processing, analysis and writing of scientific manuscripts and reports
Create research translation outputs such as policy briefs and media output
Duration of the Contract
2 years
Remuneration
R350 000 - R400 000 per annum depending on experience and does not include benefits
Job Requirements
A PhD qualification in epidemiology / biostatistics / data science/ medical statistics or related relevant field
Evidence of excellent data analytical skills, with proficiency in STATA or R
Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Code 8/10 driver’s license
