Our client based in Kempton Park is seeking a experienced Workshop Manager with prior experience working as a Mechanic/Auto Electrician To oversee the daily operations of a repair shop. You will be required to lead the technical team, manage service quality and budgets, ensure a safe working environment, and drive customer satisfaction to maximize overall profitability.

Duties
Delegate repair tasks and maintain a steady workflow (Work In Progress/WIP) to ensure timely vehicle turnaround
Inspect completed repairs to ensure they meet Original Equipment (OE) safety and operational standards
Assist technicians with complex mechanical or electrical faults and approve vehicle test drives
Ensure all workshop operations comply with local automotive and environmental regulations
Lead a team of mechanics, technicians, and apprentices, establishing performance metrics and conducting regular appraisals
Identify knowledge gaps and provide on-the-job training and mentorship to staff.
Manage shift rotations, timecards, and leave requests to ensure adequate staffing at all times
Act as the bridge between technicians and customers, explaining technical issues and providing accurate repair estimates
Address and resolve customer complaints promptly to ensure high retention and satisfaction rates
Drive business growth by promoting value-added services and meeting labor sales targets
Coordinate with the parts department or external suppliers to ensure required components are available before service begins
Ensure all workshop tools, hoists, and diagnostic equipment are calibrated, serviced, and safe to use
Conduct regular physical inventory counts of consumables (oil, grease, tires, etc.) and replacement parts
Monitor and control operational costs, manage expenses, and identify opportunities for financial efficiency
Oversee the documentation of vehicle service histories, warranties, and invoices

Requirements
Applicants who have previously worked for an aftermarket service centre
such as BOSCH, e-Car, Car Service City, Car Care Clinic etc. will be given
preference
Valid drivers license
Mechanical Background (vehicles)
Preferred Qualified Mechanic /Qualified Auto electrician - Auto experience, parts, service advisor will be considered
Automotive and Sales Background (workshop)
Parts Knowledge
Math skills
Computer literate
Must be bilingual (English - Afrikaans)
Management skills
Must be of Sober Habits
Good traceable references
Reliable and honest
Automotive experience 5 years (Preferred)

Salary: R17 000 to R21 000 Dependent on experience
