Description
The University seeks to appoint an accomplished academic leader to the position of Executive
Dean: Faculty of Management Sciences on a five-year fixed-term contract.
As the academic and executive head of the Faculty, the Executive Dean will provide visionary and
strategic leadership and assume overall responsibility for the effective management and
advancement of the Faculty. The successful candidate will possess appropriate academic
qualifications, relevant professional affiliations, substantial leadership and management
experience, and the personal attributes and temperament required to provide transformative
leadership aligned with the University’s strategic priorities and objectives.
Key responsibilities will include leading and coordinating the implementation of the University ISP
and policies. The development and implementation of the Faculty’s strategic plan: ensuring sound
financial planning, management and accountability; and overseeing staff performance, recruitment,
development, succession and retention. The Executive Dean will also lead the Faculty’s marketing,
student recruitment and positioning strategies, while ensuring the quality, relevance and
continuous improvement of its academic, research, engagement and operational activities.
This position is part of the University’s Institutional Management Committee and will report to
the Deputy Vice-Chancellor: Teaching, Learning and Technology
Minimum Qualifications:
• A Doctorate or equivalent qualification in any Management Sciences discipline.
Minimum Requirements
• At least five (5) years experience as HOD, Assistant Dean, Director, or Senior Manager in a
University or related environment.
• Applicants should meet the Associate or Full Professor requirements of TUT.
• Registration with relevant professional bodies and an NRF rating will be an added
advantage.
