Job Summary

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in safeguarding the financial integrity of a leading South African law firm? With a commitment to delivering practical legal solutions across multiple disciplines, our client is seeking an experienced Finance Controller to ensure precise financial management and compliance within their dynamic team.

Duties:

Maintain accurate and timely business and trust accounting records for the firm

Process and reconcile trust receipts, payments, transfers, and interest

Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly trust reconciliations in accordance with legal practice standards

Manage creditors, debtors, general ledger, journals, cashbook, and bank reconciliations

Monitor and reconcile client matters, trust creditors, and fee transfers

Prepare and support monthly management accounts and related schedules

Assist with billing processes, receipts allocation, write-offs, and collection reports

Support payroll inputs and reconciliations as needed

Prepare for year-end audits, including trust audit support and schedules

Maintain internal financial controls and ensure proper transaction segregation and authorization

Support FICA compliance through accurate record-keeping and document retention

Liaise with partners, fee earners, auditors, banks, and service providers on finance matters

Manage TPFA and 3PIM Trust Investments opening and closure procedures

Uphold confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism in all financial transactions and records

Requirements:

Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification

5–8 years’ bookkeeping experience, specifically within legal or attorney practices

Proven expertise in trust and business accounting

Proficiency in Excel and general accounting software

Strong reconciliation skills

Excellent IT support and software proficiency

Nice to Have:

Experience with legal industry-specific financial management software

Knowledge of FICA compliance procedures
