Description
The Department of Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment requires the service of a part-time lecturer at eMalahleni Campus from 1 February 2027 to 10
December 2027.
INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants are required to submit, together with the CVs, a fully completed standardized
application form available from the university intranet as well as recently certified copies of qualifications
and Identity Document. Failure to comply with this instruction will disqualify the candidate. Candidates may
be subjected to appropriate psychometric testing and other selection instruments.
CRITICAL PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Lecturing in the field of Mechanical Engineering with specialization in:
Mechanics
Engineering Graphics
• Provide sound academic teaching and learning practices with continuous TLT innovations.
• Taking responsibility for administrative tasks related to teaching and learning, including the
development of the new curriculum for the Higher Certificate in Engineering.
• Compile and maintain quality study and practical guides, subject files, and other TLT materials.
• Lead and participate in community service projects and research projects of the faculty/department.
• Liaise with industry regarding practical training, advisory committee meetings, industry visits, and other
related activities.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR LECTURER
Academic qualifications:
MEng in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience:
• 3 years lecturing at the tertiary level and /or 3 years of industry experience.
• Excellent presentation and communication skills.
• Computer literate.
Registration with professional body (if applicable):
• Professional registration with ECSA and/or SAIMechE will be advantageous.
