1. Daily Supermarket Operations
Store Standards & Upkeep: Manage daily store opening and closing procedures, ensuring a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for value shoppers.
Merchandising & Stock Management: Oversee on-floor shelf replenishment, attractive pricing displays, and seasonal promotional rollouts (such as monthly savings and stationery sales).
Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels closely to minimize shrinkage and stock loss while ensuring top-selling groceries, household items, and apparel are always available.
2. Front-End & Cashier Management
Financial Integrity: Supervise cashiers and cash-office staff, executing daily cash-ups, secure till changes, and strict register auditing.
Queue & Flow Optimization: Actively manage front-end checkout lanes during peak hours to keep customer waiting times minimal and ensure a smooth checkout experience.
3. Retail Team Leadership
Staff Scheduling & Rotations: Coordinate weekly shift rosters for cashiers, general assistants, shelf packers, and security staff to ensure optimal floor coverage during retail trading hours.
Performance & Coaching: Direct, motivate, and upskill the in-store floor team to build a high-energy service culture. Resolve internal staff disputes quickly and professionally.
4. Customer Service Excellence
Floor Visibility: Maintain a strong presence on the shop floor to assist shoppers, manage returns or refunds, and swiftly resolve customer complaints.
Loyalty & Promotion Driving: Ensure the team actively promotes weekly in-store specials and digital A5 Cash and Carry deals to store visitors.
Job Requirements & Qualifications
Education:
Matric Certificate (Grade 12) or equivalent.
A tertiary qualification in Retail Management or Business is advantageous.
Experience:
3 to 5+ years of experience as a Store Manager or Assistant Manager within a fast-moving FMCG, value supermarket, or retail store environment.
Skills:
Exceptional retail customer service skills and team-building capability.
Strong retail arithmetic skills for daily cash-ups and variance tracking.
Familiarity with retail point-of-sale (POS) systems and inventory software.
Availability:
Must be fully flexible to work standard retail shifts, including
Saturdays, Sundays, and public holidays in accordance with regional trading hours.
