HALF-DAY BOOKKEEPER – NORTHERN SUBURBS, CAPE TOWN

We are a well-established retail group operating three SPAR stores in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town and are looking for an experienced, reliable and detail-oriented Bookkeeper.

This is a half-day, flexible position with the opportunity to work from home most days of the week. The main base will be Van Riebeeckshof, with occasional travel between our three stores when required.

The position would suit an experienced bookkeeper looking for a stable, long-term and flexible role, including someone who is retired/semi-retired or a parent looking to return to work on a part-time basis.

REQUIREMENTS

Applicants must:

Have a recognised bookkeeping/accounting degree, diploma or qualification

Have solid practical bookkeeping/accounting experience

Have experience using accounting/bookkeeping software

Be fully proficient in Microsoft Excel

Have a good working knowledge of all areas of bookkeeping/accounting

Be fluent in English and/or Afrikaans

Be a South African citizen

Live in the Northern Suburbs of Cape Town

Have reliable own transport

Be able to work independently and meet deadlines

Be accurate, organised, trustworthy and dependable

Previous SPAR, supermarket, FMCG or retail accounting experience will be a strong advantage.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

General bookkeeping and accounting

Creditors and supplier reconciliations

Bank and cashbook reconciliations

General ledger reconciliations

VAT-related bookkeeping

Month-end processing

Maintaining accurate financial records across the group

Preparing financial information and reports for management

Resolving discrepancies and account queries

Assisting accountants/auditors when required

Excel-based financial analysis and reporting
