MobileMate is looking for an experienced, hands-on Cellphone & Laptop Technician to join our team in Cape Town.

We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys repairing technology, can diagnose faults accurately, takes pride in their workmanship and understands the importance of treating customers' devices with care.

The role

You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing and testing a wide range of mobile phones, laptops and related electronic devices.

Key responsibilities include:

Diagnosing hardware and software faults
Cellphone screen, battery, charging-port, camera, speaker and other component replacements
iPhone, Samsung and other major-brand repairs
Laptop diagnostics and hardware repairs
Display, keyboard, battery, charging and motherboard fault finding
Software installation, configuration and troubleshooting
Data transfer and recovery where appropriate
Board-level/microsoldering repairs (advantageous)
Thorough testing and quality control after every repair
Maintaining accurate repair records
Keeping the workshop clean, organised and professional
Communicating repair findings and costs clearly to customers
Taking responsibility for devices entrusted to MobileMate
What we're looking for

Essential:

Proven practical experience repairing cellphones and/or laptops
Strong diagnostic and fault-finding ability
Experience with iPhone, Samsung and other popular devices
Good understanding of electronic components and repair procedures
Excellent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Honest, reliable and professional
Good communication and customer-service skills

Highly advantageous:

Board-level repair / microsoldering experience
Motherboard diagnostics and repair
Experience repairing MacBooks
Experience with data recovery
Formal electronics/IT/technical qualification
Experience working in a busy repair shop or retail environment
