Description
A Vacancy exists for Clinical Engineering Intern for Work Integrated Learning (P1 & P2) based at Life Groenkloof Hospital, reporting to Tshifhiwa Mango the Clinical Engineering Manager. This internship entails all aspects of medical equipment maintenance, repairs, performance of incoming inspections on all new, demo, loaned and leased medical equipment, provide training, and instruct hospital personnel on proper & safe use of equipment. This internship will provide the learner with the opportunity to gain work experience in line with the qualifications they are studying toward.
Critical Outputs
Medical Equipment Asset Management and Maintenance
Assist with the maintenance of an accurate computerized asset management system as per Group Engineering protocols
Under supervision performs first line repairs, modifications and installations of equipment, utilizing the necessary test equipment, in accordance with the standards and recommendations of original equipment manufacturers (OEM) and/or governing agencies
Perform preventive maintenance inspections of equipment in line with Group Engineering and OEM protocols
Obtain and perform pre-acceptance inspections according to ECRI standards on new, demo and loan equipment
Administration and Management
Monitor and report on equipment failure trends and life cycle costs
Assist with the implementation of policies and procedures as per Group Engineering protocols
Involvement with the budgeting of medical equipment Capex needs
Training
Perform formal operators training and monitor competency compliance by arranging training with vendors for hospital nursing staff and equipment end-users
Maintain high professional standards
Ensure professional growth and development through professional affiliations, conferences and available resources, to stay updated within the clinical engineering field
Requirements
Grade 12
Have completed All subjects in clinical / biomedical engineering
Member of the Clinical Engineering Association of South Africa (CEASA) will be an advantage
Computer proficiency

Drivers licence and ability to travel
