Job Description.
We have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy Unit Manager in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), a key role supporting the Unit Manager in daily operations.
This position includes managing personnel through recruitment, training, and performance evaluations,
while ensuring excellent patient care and safety.
The Deputy Unit Manager will also handle resource management, including inventory control and record
maintenance, and implement hospital policies within the ICU.
Strong clinical knowledge and effective leadership skills are essential for success in this
role.
Responsibilities
Monitor staff needs within the Unit
Provide orientation and training for new employees.
Assess staff performance regularly
Uphold nursing standards and offer in service training.
Maintain a professional demeanor.
Ensure quality and excellent patient care.
Enforce health and safety rules.
Keep accurate records and management of stock.
Implement policies effectively.
Job Requirements
Diploma or certificate in Critical Care General
required.
Minimum five years of experience in a leadership
or shift leader role in (ICU).
Must be registered with SANC and provide proof
of indemnity cover.
Friendly and approachable demeanor essential.
Strong communication skills are a must.
Proven leadership capabilities required.
Having personal transportation is a plus
(Advantage).
Flexibility to work various shifts is necessary.
Commitment to patient care and team collaboration.
Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment is important.
