Description
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Flexographic Printer Operator to join our production team in the plastic packaging manufacturing industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for setting up, operating, monitoring, and maintaining flexographic printing machines to ensure high-quality print output and efficient production performance.
The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge of flexographic printing processes, color matching, registration control, ink viscosity management, and quality assurance procedures within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate flexographic printing machines according to production specifications and job cards
Ensure correct mounting of printing plates, cylinders, and sleeves
Mix and match inks according to customer color requirements
Monitor print quality, color consistency, and registration throughout production
Conduct regular quality checks during production runs
Adjust machine settings to minimize waste and improve efficiency
Maintain correct ink viscosity and monitor solvent levels
Troubleshoot printing defects such as smudging, ghosting, misregistration, and color variation
Complete production records, QC reports, and downtime reports accurately
Ensure housekeeping and machine cleanliness standards are maintained
Work closely with extrusion, cutting, sealing, and quality control departments
Follow all health and safety procedures within the factory environment
Assist with machine maintenance and report mechanical issues immediately
Requirements
Minimum of 2–5 years experience operating flexographic printing machines
Experience in plastic packaging or flexible film printing is highly advantageous
Good understanding of color matching and print registration
Knowledge of solvent-based inks, viscosity control, and printing substrates
Ability to read and interpret job cards and production specifications
Strong attention to detail and quality control
Ability to work shifts and under production pressure
Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills
Good communication and teamwork skills
Matric / Grade 12 certificate preferred
Advantageous Skills
Experience with CI Flexographic Printing Machines
Knowledge of barcode printing and scan quality requirements
Experience with polyethylene film printing
Understanding of production KPI tracking, waste reduction, and efficiency target
SALARY : market related / based on experience
