KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Daily Forklift Operations

Safely operate forklift to transport pallets within the facility, from receiving areas to storage locations and loading docks.

Efficiently load and unload pallets from delivery trucks and containers.

Ensure proper handling of fruit pallets to prevent damage and maintain quality.

Identify and immediately report damages or quality deficiencies to the Supervisor.

Quality Control & Compliance

Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hygiene regulations, including wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).

Conduct and complete daily inspections and report any mechanical issues immediately to the Supervisor.

Maintain high standards of housekeeping throughout the facility.

Ensure cold store doors remain closed when not in use to maintain temperature integrity.

Team Collaboration

Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure seamless and efficient workflow.

Assist with general warehouse duties as directed by the Supervisor in accordance with operational requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Grade 12.

Valid forklift license.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a forklift operator, preferably in a cold storage environment.

Experience in the fruit export industry is preferred.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to follow instructions accurately and in a timely manner.

Ability to read and understand dispatch and receiving documents, as well as safety guidelines.

Excellent hand-eye coordination and peripheral vision.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

The role requires working in a cold storage environment.

The successful candidate will be expected to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, in line with operational requirements.

Ability to perform manual labour and work with heavy equipment.
