About the Job
We are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, and versatile manager to lead our new program Global Solar Connect (GSX), an initiative to strengthen national and regional solar and/or storage associations across the world. The GSX Manager will support the development and implementation of a comprehensive capacity building program for national and regional associations with the aim of building a stronger advocacy network for solar + storage in every corner of the world. The GSX program will include initiatives across different areas of association work including strategic communications, policy and advocacy, business development, operations, and market intelligence. The GSX Manager will also be responsible for coordinating engagement with national associations on various GSC global initiatives to implement our work at the national level.
The GSX Manager will work closely with the GSC team and collaborate with members, funders, international institutions, our partners, and more to build up the GSX program.
Key Responsibilities
Developing and implementing multi-year capacity building program for national associations
Organizing workshops and training online and in-person for national associations
Developing tools, templates and resources to support national associations
Coordinate GSC’s advocacy, standards, market intelligence and communications initiatives with national associations
Managing and recruiting association members
Representing GSC and the GSX program in international events and forums
Support on fundraising and managing grants related to GSX
And other related tasks as needed
Requirements
Professional Experience
Minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in working for/with industry associations and/or renewable energy advocacy, or any other relevant experience;
Passion for solar energy and the green transition;
A good understanding of the solar PV and BESS or renewables industry and policy;
A good understanding of what makes a successful industry association across different departments (including business development, communications, policy, market intelligence, and operations)
Experience working at international level and across different cultures/languages;
Experience in coordinating international projects, working groups or multi-stakeholder initiatives;
Experience in managing grant-funded projects;
Experience organizing and managing workshops and events;
Experience working in emerging or developing markets is desirable;
Excellent writing, analytical, and organizational skills;
A team player who works well with others;
Versatility and willingness to support other activities of the GSC;
Fluency in English (native or equivalent), other languages will be considered an asset;
Ability to travel and participate in international forums.
Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in international relations, international business, energy policy, or a related field is required.
In lieu of an advanced university degree, one (1) additional year of progressively responsible relevant professional experience will be required.
