The Directorate of Building and Estates in the Department of Technical Services have internal positions of Grounds Keepers x 2.

INSTRUCTIONS: Applicants are required to submit, together with the CVs, a fully completed standardized application form available from the university intranet as well as recently certified copies of qualifications and Identity Document. Failure to comply with this instruction will disqualify the candidate. Candidates may be subjected to appropriate psychometric testing and other selection instruments

Key performance areas/Core functions:

To provide effective maintenance of the grounds and landscaping per site and operate
small hand-held equipment utilised for general maintenance.
• General garden maintenance
• Cleaning of garden beds and surroundings
• Maintenance of garden trees
• Sweeping and blowing of hard surface areas
• Litter removal and control
• Pest weed control
• Sport field maintenance
• Ad-hoc duties assigned by team leaders

Minimum requirements:

Academic qualifications:
• NQF level 4 (Grade 9 / ABET Level 4 National Certificates)
• General Education and Training
Experience:
• 1 years’ relevant experience
Knowledge and Skills:
• Knowledge of basic landscaping maintenance
• Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)
• Knowledge of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Personal Protective
Clothing (PPC)
• Communication Skills
• Coordination and planning skills
Other special Requirements:
• Specific and related training will be provided upon appointment
