Description

A vacancy exists for a Laundry Manager based at Life P.E Laundry reporting to John Fidler, Hospital Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the facility processing 4 tons of laundry seven days a week for 7 Life Healthcare hospitals.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for meeting the needs of internal customers through the execution of the Life Healthcare strategic and operational objectives of growth, quality and people by leading, managing and coordinating all laundry activities.

Critical Outputs
Ensuring that high quality linen is consistently delivered to hospitals on time
Effectively communicate with the respective hospital managers to maintain required par levels
Ensure the optimum functioning and management of the laundry
Ensure optimum delivery and collection services
Implement and sustain best operating practices and where required implement corrective actions
Manage and optimize processes, outputs, targets and deliverables
Achieve outputs within financial targets
Adjust stock levels to meet demands of customers (hospitals)
Optimize the life span through process/quality improvements
Demonstrate visible leadership in respect of Life healthcare values, operating model and strategy
Effectively manage relationships with hospital customers and suppliers
Recruit, retain, motivate and develop staff according to LHC people policies and practices
Actively lead and manage the management and staff at the facility to achieve the objectives
Ensure a healthy employee relations environment
Drive staff productivity and quality improvements
Manage infection control, health and safety and environmental standards and disaster management principles

Requirements

Degree/Diploma in Business Management (background and/or experience in an Engineering or Technical filed will be advantageous)
General management experience in a factory, production or hospital environment of at least 3 -5 years.
Should have knowledge of process management and logistics.
Proven people management skills.
Understanding the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage.
Previous Union relations experience would be an advantage.
Basic understanding of or ability to learn specialized fields, terminology and laundry equipment use.
