Description

Role Overview:

The Network Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network cabling infrastructure across the business. This includes structured cabling, fault resolution, and ensuring all physical network components are installed and maintained to a high standard to support business operations.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Install, terminate, and test network cabling (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fibre where applicable) across business sites
Run new network cabling in accordance with structured cabling standards and business requirements
Diagnose and repair faults on existing cabling infrastructure to ensure minimal downtime
Install and manage trunking, conduits, and cable pathways to ensure neat, safe, and compliant cable routing
Set up and secure long-length fly leads across extended distances where required
Install and configure PoE injectors for network switches that do not support Power over Ethernet (PoE)
Ensure all cabling work is clearly labelled, documented, and compliant with company standards
Conduct cable testing using appropriate tools (e.g., cable testers, certification tools) and provide reports where required
Work closely with the IT team to support network roll outs, upgrades, and site setups
Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition
Adhere to health and safety standards when working in ceilings, server rooms, or other technical environments
Provide after-hours or weekend support when required for critical installations or repairs.

Key Skills & Requirements:

Proven experience in network cabling installation and maintenance
Strong understanding of structured cabling standards and best practices
Experience working with trunking, conduits, and cable management systems
Familiarity with PoE concepts and injector setup
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve cabling-related network issues
Comfortable working at heights (e.g., ceilings, ladders) where required
Good attention to detail, especially with cable management and labelling
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines

Advantageous:

Relevant IT or cabling certifications (e.g., CompTIA Network+, vendor-specific cabling certifications)
Experience working in enterprise or multi-site environments
