CapeNature seeks to employ an experienced and enthusiastic marketing promotions officer to join their innovative marketing unit. This role requires a solid understanding and advanced experience in marketing and digital marketing in travel and tourism as well as ecommerce. The successful individual will be based at CapeNature’s head office in Athlone, occasionally traveling to reserves for activations, site visits and stakeholder engagements across the Western Cape.

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

 

Tourism Marketing (Awareness and Promotion)

 

Maximise tourism marketing and promotion of CapeNature tourism products through a range of marketing activities. To prepare SEO digital copy for Marketing APP (Annual Performance Plan) campaigns not limited to website, social media, email marketing, the CapeNature app, and other promotional platforms.

 

 

Revenue generation and Sales Growth

 

Ensure the increase of regional tourism and additional tourism income through smart revenue management. To assist with e-commerce revenue income performance.

To assist with revenue income linked to campaigns.

 

 

Customer Service and Tourism Marketing support for the landscapes

 

To provide Marketing and Customer service support to the list of reserves that Promotions Officer is responsible within the assigned landscapes.

Marketing audits and site visits.

 

 

Online Tourism Marketing and Innovation

 

To support tourism promotional activities through online marketing platforms.

To assist in the implementation of innovation and technology in tourism marketing and sales.

 

 

Stakeholder, Marketing Engagement, Strategic Partnerships and Sponsorships

 

To acquire/ grow, retain and ensure strong stakeholder relationships, collaborations and strategic partnerships to strengthen tourism marketing. To actively look for opportunities to build credible brand awareness and coordinate participation or management of exhibitions, special events and conferences.

 

 

 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

 

Develop and implement high-quality, cutting-edge marketing content for multiple platforms in line with the entity’s strategic objectives.

Write and source SEO content for the website to promote tourism.

Repurpose marketing content for consumption on multiple digital platforms.

Manage, maintain and modify CapeNature’s marketing platforms in line with strict service level standards.

Brief in campaigns to design considering the image and positioning of the brand across multiple platforms.

Communicate with internal stakeholders regarding campaigns and operational related information for various information products.

Integrate new technologies for marketing tools.

Keep abreast of new e-commerce trends related to the digital space in order to advise management on new opportunities and possibilities.

Conduct online research, develop and introduce new campaigns that are applicable to the Eco-Tourism & Access strategic plan.

Create and monitor campaigns briefs to drive traffic to bookings and marketing opportunities.

Negotiate and procure advertising as and when required.

Provide Eco-Tourism & Access with insight into visitor patterns and behaviour.

Provide detailed online analytics, reporting, reviews, surveys and polls.

Assist the Marketing and Promotions Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive marketing strategy and operational work plans that are aligned to the entity’s key business objectives.

Assist the Marketing and Promotions manager to implement creative marketing campaigns targeted at increasing tourism.

Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with stakeholders

Assist the Marketing and Promotions Manager in ensuring maximum tourism marketing exposure by utilising various and innovative marketing.

Assist the Marketing and Promotions manager in identifying opportunities to build credible brand awareness and coordinate participation or management of shows and special events

 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

 

A valid Code B drivers’ license

Excellent communication, project management and customer relations skills.

Excellent Language proficiency in English.

National Diploma or Degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, Business, or related disciplines. (NQF level 6).

Worked in a marketing environment.

3-5 years’ experience in marketing and/or digital marketing.

Abreast of industry trends and all applicable technologies and platforms.

Computer literate (All Microsoft Packages).

CV/portfolio must include examples of campaigns and brands or clients worked for including social media marketing platforms (Namely; Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok).

Advanced knowledge of travel and tourism.

Excellent written and communication skills.

Customer Service orientated/focused.

Establish and maintain relationships.

Innovative, proactive and action orientated.

Data & trend analyses and interpretation and report writing.

Problem solving in a fast-paced team culture.

 

 

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 

Experience in tourism/brand/agency environment.

Background or basic knowledge of nature-based tourism, tourism, marketing and green principles.

Knowledge of social media content writing.

Experience in SEO marketing content.
