Prospective Candidate Specification
1. Role Purpose
The Sales/Marketer will be responsible for generating new businesses, growing revenue streams and expanding presence in the energy and fuel
market. The ideal candidate must be able to engage corporate clients, negotiate contracts, and meet structured sales goals while maintaining customer satisfaction and compliance with all regulatory and environmental obligations. This role includes extensive client interaction, site visits, and regional travel to ensure full market coverage and sales generation.
2. Key Responsibilities
• Identify and generate leads within targeted industries (logistics, agriculture, mining, construction, and government)
• Close profitable deals and convert prospects into long-term clients
• Create and implement customer-specific sales plans and engagement strategies
• Prepare compelling proposals, quotes and where applicable identify tender
submissions in collaboration with Associate Companies.
• Negotiate contracts, pricing and service level agreements to align with company margins and objectives
• Represent Organisation at trade shows, expos, networking sessions and client-hosted events
• Collaborate with the marketing team to develop market activation campaigns and brand awareness
• Work closely with operations and logistics teams to ensure timely and accurate service delivery
• Provide input on pricing strategies, market feedback, and competitor activities
• Generate and maintain detailed reports using CRM and analytics tools
3. Key Competencies & Skills
• Excellent sales acumen with a proven track record of meeting/exceeding targets
• Strong presentation and pitching skills to diverse audiences
• Analytical thinking and market intelligence interpretation
• Professionalism in handling high-value negotiations and contracts
• Effective time and territory management
• Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to work independently
• Proficient in MS Office and proposal writing
4. Qualifications & Experience
• Matric (Grade 12) is essential
• National Diploma or Degree in Sales, Business, or Marketing (advantageous)
• 2–4 years in B2B sales or field marketing with measurable success
• Fuel/energy/petroleum experience highly recommended
• Knowledge of municipal and government procurement channels will be a plus
• Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel across provinces
• Familiarity with contract negotiation and tender processes
5. Tools & Benefits Provided
• Basic salary: R12,000 – R20,000 per month (based on experience)
• Commission structure based on performance
6. Performance Targets Overview
The performance of the Sales/Marketer will be measured against a structured Key Performance Indicator (KPI) framework.
