Description
A vacancy exists for a stock controller/ward clerk (Emergency Department), based at Life Wilgeheuwel Hospital reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will contribute to the effective functioning and co-ordination of stock.
Critical Outputs
Ensure optimal service levels whilst understanding and striving to achieve targets.
To ensure the speedy and effective execution of non-nursing activities.
Attend meetings and in-service training as scheduled.
Obtaining medical aid authorizations
Ensuring a safe environment in all areas of the unit through staying up to date with safety standards and protocols.
Knowledge of emergency plans and actions.
Elimination of medico legal risks through the correct identification and filing of patient’s documentation.
Maintenance of a positive appearance and behavior, within and outside hospital relation.
Friendly and helpful client service.

Professional secrecy and discretion during contact with customers and colleagues.
Ensuring of effective communication between customers and colleagues.
Develop and maintain sound relationships with internal customers to achieve co-operation and compliance with audit processes
Set up and maintenance of preferred stock levels, and daily ordering of stock to ensure a quality pharmaceutical supply service
Asset management to ensure security of stock and to minimize loss due to redundancy
Quarterly stocktaking
Active involvement in stock-takes and cycle counts monthly.
Assist with non-recoverable utilization
Dead stock and short dated stock management
Assist with managing operational efficiencies identified
Monitoring expiry dates of all items and managing as per protocol. Record submitted to UM monthly.
Informing UM of any stock issues and shortages daily.
Ensuring that stock is available at all times, especially Emergency stock items. Daily checks on high value items.
Ensure cost-efficiency regarding staff planning Communication to Agencies to book staff and cancel where necessary.
Focus on implementation of formulary products and communication to nursing teams.
Implementing and maintaining the LHC formulary and providing feedback to PM
Capturing and handling of product complaints
Resolving queries from relevant stakeholders.
Ensuring a culture of quality in our business and operational excellence.
Any other task that the line manager may deem necessary, e.g. Alert Capturing and completing Generic Alert Summary, Comment card weekly checks and compiling Comment Card Log Monthly, Stats and files up keep.
Loading Job cards Timeously on SAP and following up on Job complete. Meticulous record keeping.
Requirements
Grade 12
Sound knowledge of at least 2 years on stock control in a hospital environment
A working knowledge of SAP will be an advantage.
Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage. Hospital experience and knowledge of systems (iMeds) is a requirement.
A person who is result orientated, pays attention to detail, has excellent interpersonal as well as communication skills is needed.
Customer focus, a commitment towards continuous improvement, the ability to work independently and the management of time is required.
Computer proficiency is essential.
Ability to work in a stressful environment

Experience within inventory management or relevant experience within a pharmaceutical environment
