Role Overview
My client is seeking an experienced and proactive Maintenance Manager to oversee the full spectrum of maintenance operations for an expansive property and hospitality environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, coordinating, executing, and supervising all maintenance activities to ensure the facility and grounds are safe, fully operational, aesthetically maintained, and compliant with regulatory standards.
This role requires technical expertise, operational leadership, excellent planning capabilities, and the ability to work independently within a live-in estate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Management
Take full ownership of the maintenance function across the property including buildings, equipment, infrastructure, water systems, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC, landscaping, guest facilities, and staff amenities.
Lead preventative maintenance planning and scheduling to minimize downtime and prolong lifespan of assets and systems.
Monitor performance and condition of all property assets; identify issues and develop corrective plans.
Coordinate and execute repairs to structural, mechanical, and electrical systems in a timely, cost-effective manner.
Respond to maintenance requests and emergency breakdowns 24/7 in coordination with management.
Supervision & Team Leadership
Supervise and schedule maintenance staff and external contractors.
Train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance team members to ensure high performance, safety compliance, and quality workmanship.
Conduct regular team briefings to communicate priorities, safety issues, and upcoming tasks.
Safety, Compliance & Quality Control
Ensure compliance with relevant safety standards, building codes, and occupational health regulations.
Implement and monitor safety programs, risk assessments, and site inspections.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, schedules, materials, and equipment inventories.
Monitor budgets, purchase orders and cost-control measures, and contribute to annual maintenance budget preparation.
Asset & Inventory Management
Oversee maintenance supplies, tools, vehicles, and equipment; ensure proper storage, security, and serviceability.
Develop inventory forecasting, procurement plans and maintain supplier relationships.
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum Requirements
Tertiary trade qualification preferred (Electrician qualification strongly preferred); additional trade certifications considered an advantage.
Proven experience in a maintenance leadership role, ideally within hospitality, estate, resort, or similar environments.
Strong technical knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and general building systems.
Proficient in maintenance planning, problem diagnosis, safety compliance, and cost control.
Valid driver’s license required.
