Urgently looking for a Quantity Surveyor.
This is a 1-year fixed term placement, and the ideal candidate will be able to start immediately, working at a remote site in Malaysia, on a 8-week rotation basis being 6 weeks onsite and 2 weeks off.
Responsibilities / Duties:
1. Under the supervision of the registered Quantity Surveyor, carrying out the normal duties and functions
which occur within a professional Quantity Surveying office. These duties and functions include, inter alia:-
1.1 Preparing estimates of construction costs
1.2 Measurement of building quantities for bill preparation and final accounts
1.3 Drafting Bills of Quantities
1.4 Site visits and site measurements
1.5 Preparing valuations for issue of interim payment certificates
1.6 Assisting with cost management of construction projects
1.7 Preparing and concluding final accounts
2. Complying with basic office rules and procedures
3. Complying with the procedures laid down by The South African Council for the Quantity Surveying
Profession (“SACQSP”)
4. Attending all in-house seminars and workshops
5. Obtaining the required computer literacy and skills
6. Working in conjunction with other staff
7. Ensuring compliance with the firm’s quality management systems, including establishing a full knowledge of
the quality and practice manuals.
8. Source of new clients and additional work/projects.
9. Communicate with clients, providing updates and advice on cost and contractual matters.
10. Lead and mentor Junior quantity surveyors and other team members.
11. Ensure that all projects meet the required standards and regulations.
12. Contribute to business development activities and fee proposals.
The candidate must have a valid passport.
Clear criminal record.
Minimum of 5 to 7 years commercial experience
Highly advantageous and preferred will be specific Hotel experience.
Candidates who graduated from the University of Bloemfontein or the University of Pretoria will be preferred.
The budget is R50k neg, based on experience plus a per diem allowance that will be discussed durig the interview.
