Description

We are seeking a proactive Construction Health & Safety Officer to join our
team on a road & Storm Water infrastructure project in Mpumalanga. The
successful candidate will assist in implementing and maintaining the project's
health and safety management system, ensuring compliance with the Occupational
Health and Safety Act, Construction Regulations, and client requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Assist with implementing and maintaining the Project Health & Safety Plan and
Safety File.
Conduct daily site inspections, hazard identification, and risk assessments.
Monitor compliance with Occupational Health and Safety legislation and project
safety procedures.
Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances, and assist with corrective
actions.
Facilitate site inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness programmes.
Monitor contractor compliance with health and safety requirements.
Maintain safety registers, inspection records, and statutory documentation.
Monitor PPE compliance and safe working practices across the site.
Prepare weekly and monthly health and safety reports.
Promote a positive safety culture throughout the project.

Minimum Requirements

National Diploma or higher qualification in Safety Management, Occupational Health
& Safety, or equivalent.
1–2 years of experience in construction or civil engineering health and
safety.
SACPCMP Candidate CHSO registration or registered CHSO will be advantageous.
SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent safety qualification will be advantageous.
Sound knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act (Act 85 of 1993) and
Construction Regulations.
Good communication, administration, and report-writing skills.
Computer literacy (Microsoft Office).
Valid driver's licence and own reliable vehicle will be advantageous.
Ability to work full-time on site in Mpumalanga for the duration of the contract.
