The Opportunity

Hydro Power Systems is seeking 12 motivated Engineering Assistants to support our underground and surface operations in Welkom, Evander, Orkney, and Rustenburg. This role is ideal for hands-on individuals looking to gain experience in a mining engineering and technical environment while working with advanced drilling technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist artisans and technical teams with engineering and maintenance tasks
• Support installation, servicing, and repair of mining equipment
• Conduct basic inspections and report faults or abnormalities
• Ensure tools, materials, and work areas are prepared and maintained
• Adhere to mine health, safety, and environmental standards
• Assist with general engineering and operational duties as required

Minimum Requirements

• Grade 12 (Matric) – essential
• Previous experience in a mining or engineering environment (advantageous) Must have underground experience
• Basic mechanical or technical knowledge
• Physically fit and medically fit for underground work
• Strong safety awareness and willingness to learn
• Ability to work shifts and at various mine sites
• Clear criminal record
