Description

A vacancy exists for an Inventory Manager based at Life Groenkloof Hospital, reporting to Pharmacy Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and co- ordinating the Pharmacy services within the hospital environment by ensuring that the quality pharmaceutical services, financial objectives, legislative compliance and people management requirements are achieved to the required standards.

Critical Outputs
Effective product management

Drive purchasing in line with standardized procurement agreements to reduce cost of care.
Active management of cost of sales of surgical stock in line with budget.
Build effective working relationships with nursing staff and doctors as key stakeholders.
Manage the product complaints process.
Effective asset management

Drive surgical stock management in the hospital actively to achieve targets and ensure security of stock.
Ensure optimal management of consignment and loan stock and related controls and processes.
Drive optimal system utilisation.
Manages unrecorded liabilities, GRIR and MIR6 processes.
Oversees accurate management of the item stock master, including identifying and correcting incorrect items and description codes.
Manages dead stock, short-dated and excess stock are identified, reported and actioned.
Effective financial management

Ensure the procure to pay process relating to surgical stock is aligned to company best practice.
Participate in achieving hospital budgeted financial measures relating to stock.
Manage overheads according to budget.
Drive improvement of operational efficiencies impacting cost of sales. (for e.g. open orders, negative stock, PPV)
Effective QMS and stock safety management

Report 100% of inventory incidents and develop and implement remedial actions as appropriate.
Complete trends analysis with relevant actions quarterly together with Pharmacy Manager.
Report 100% of pharmacy stock alerts and develop and implement remedial action and complete a trends analysis quarterly.
Participate in the LHC Quality Management Systems process to ensure continuous improvement. Identify and implement customer satisfaction and quality initiatives and innovations to enhance service levels and exhibit a culture of service.
Effective people management

Recruit, retain, motivate and develop staff according to LHC people policies and practices.
Provide direction and inspire positive work behaviour in the team.
Ensure the performance management reviews are conducted and ongoing one on one feedback is provided

Requirements

Relevant Degree or diploma. A working knowledge of the SAP Materials Management system is advantageous.
Knowledge of inventory control processes, procedures and practices.
Experience in a management role within an inventory management/logistics environment.
Understanding of management and relationship structures within an operating environment
People management experience is essential.
Excellent interpersonal skills as effective working relationships with patients, doctors, hospital staff and suppliers are critical.
Sound financial and numeric skills and business acumen.
