JNR Factory Manager
A leading furniture manufacturer, situated in the South of Johannesburg is seeking to employ
a JNR Factory Manager to support the Factory Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations,
ensuring production targets, quality standards, safety compliance, and
continuous improvement are achieved. The role focuses on developing leadership
skills while managing teams, processes, and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Production Management
Assist in planning and coordinating production schedules.
Monitor daily output to ensure targets are met.
Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions.
Ensure optimal utilization of machines, materials, and labour.
2. Team Supervision
Supervise production staff and team leaders.
Provide on-the-job training and coaching.
Ensure discipline, attendance, and performance standards.
Foster a positive and productive work environment.
3. Health & Safety
Enforce company safety policies and procedures.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Ensure proper use of PPE and safe machine operation.
Report and investigate accidents and incidents.
4. Quality Control
Ensure products meet quality specifications.
Work closely with quality control teams to reduce defects.
Implement corrective and preventive actions.
Promote a culture of quality at all levels.
5. Maintenance Coordination
Coordinate with maintenance teams for machine upkeep.
Ensure minimal downtime through proactive maintenance.
Report equipment issues promptly.
6. Continuous Improvement
Support lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, waste reduction).
Suggest process improvements to increase productivity.
Analyse production data and implement improvements.
7. Reporting
Prepare daily and weekly production reports.
Track KPIs such as output, waste, downtime, and labour efficiency.
Provide feedback and recommendations to senior management.
Experience and Qualifications:
Matric / Grade 12
Experience managing people
Enforcing staff discipline
Proficient in Excel
Good maths skills
Good understanding of production line manufacturing, line balancing, time studies and workflow analysis.
