Description
The Department of Visual Communication at TUT invites applications for Part-Time Lecturer positions in Commercial Photography for 2027 at the Arts Campus. We are seeking creative professionals with photography expertise, teaching and/or industry experience, and the ability to support teaching, learning and assessment across Commercial Photography modules.
INSTRUCTIONS:

form, a CV, recently certified copies of qualifications, a recently certified copy of an Identity Document and, where applicable, a portfolio link for practical module applications. Failure to comply with these instructions may disqualify the candidate. Candidates may
be subjected to appropriate psychometric testing and other selection instruments.
Critical Performance Areas
• Prepare and conduct high-quality lectures across Commercial Photography
modules, tailored to various student skill levels.
• Use creative and interactive teaching methods to promote student engagement and learning.
• Incorporate teaching technologies, including myTUTor, photography software and relevant digital tools.
• Design, administer and mark tests, assignments and projects in line with modulespecific learning outcomes.
• Participate in departmental and subject-related meetings and contribute academic and industry insights.
• Manage general administration, including capturing marks, uploading documents to myTUTor and maintaining student records.
Minimum Requirements
1. Academic qualifications
• Advanced Diploma, BA or B-Tech (NQF Level 7) in Photography, Film, Film Media
and Visual Studies, Visual Communication or a related field of specialisation for
Diploma-level teaching.
For Advanced Diploma-level teaching: Postgraduate Diploma (NQF Level 8) in
Photography, Film, Film Media and Visual Studies, Visual Communication or a
related field of specialisation.
For Postgraduate Diploma-level teaching: M-Tech or MFA (NQF Level 9) in
Photography, Film, Film Media and Visual Studies, Visual Communication or a
related field of specialisation.
2. Experience
• At least two years of teaching and/or research experience at a tertiary institution, as well as relevant industry experience.
Knowledge and Skills
• Proficiency in MS Office and essential photography software, including Adobe
Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro or similar programmes.
• Fluency in English is essential.
• Ability to use learning management systems and digital teaching platforms
effectively.
