Description
A vacancy exists for a Maintenance Officer based at Life Nkanyisa Kirkwood Care Centre, reporting to Maintenance Supervisor.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the strategic objectives of the hospital through facility maintenance, technical support, legislative compliance, adherence to company policies and procedures.
Critical Outputs
Effective management of internal and external service providers.
Identify, together with Group Procurement, applicable services and service providers.
Ensure local contractors meet the requirements of LHC.
Adhere to prescribed preventative maintenance programs to ensure safe serviceable aesthetic facilities and systems to all units of the hospital
Plan, agree and implement Capex expenditure with hospital management.
Manage and perform planned maintenance of equipment / systems timeously according to agreed standards with least negative impact on the hospital business plan.
Performing supervised and unsupervised basic maintenance of Hospital facilities and equipment.
Unsupervised tasks will include (but not limited to):
Painting
Carpentry
Basic plumbing and maintenance of water reticulation
General cleaning and maintenance of Hospital property
Basic Electrical work (Under Direction of Supervisor) ensuring that the public areas are
well maintained
Maintaining items referred to in LHC Policy
Performing supervised tasks will include:
Maintaining items referred to in Policy or as per Supervisor’s instructions
Delegate unsupervised Basic Tasks to Maintenance Assistant (but not limited to):
Painting,
Carpentry
Basic plumbing and maintenance of water reticulation,
General cleaning and maintenance of Hospital property
Ensure compliance to all prescribed regulations of the OHS Act, SANS, Municipal Bylaws, (R158) and LHC National Operations Engineering Policy and Procedures
Ensure job cards are issued, captured and signed daily
Drive and monitor conformance to SLA, identify gaps and implement corrective action.
Ensure accurate and time-consuming invoices are received from external suppliers for processing.
Ensure customer satisfaction surveys are conducted on a regular basis and ensure requirements/complaints are identified, investigated and managed appropriately.
Ensure external stakeholders conform to agree quality standards and drive conformance to relevant health and safety legislation responsibly.
Prepare for and participate in various audits.
Participate in taking a turn for a 24hr standby service to always ensure the availability of essential services for all customers
Requirements
Grade 12/NSC
N6 Electrical certificate or higher with Electrical Trade Certificate (Red seal) is essential with at least 2 years post apprenticeship experience.
Previous hospital maintenance supervisory experience would be an advantage.
Skills required include good management skills, people skills, contract management skills and building project management skills.
Computer proficiency: MS Office, Outlook, an asset management system, report writing skills and able to create excel spreadsheets.
Excellent communication skills.
Current driver’s license.
Must have own transportation.
