Description
A vacancy exists for a Nursing Standards Manager, based at Life Brooklyn Day Hospital, reporting to the Hospital Manager.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the motivation of the company’s nursing operations and training strategy in the prescribed streamlined, standardised risk-based manner as the line manager for the enabling team.
Furthermore, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating clinical practice and resources within the unit to achieve the company and hospital objectives of quality, growth and people.
Critical Outputs
Effective management of integrated quality and business process standards
To consult with the relevant internal stakeholders to ensure a clear understanding throughout the hospital to ensure general patients and doctors satisfaction.
To ensure the correct interpretation and classification of the complaint management policy.
Effective risk management practices in order to prevent routine action plans.
Effective clinical management practices in order to obtain the best clinical outcomes.
To manage stock and cost of sales to optimize cost saving opportunities.
To become an effective line manager for enabling team performance
Function as a direct second in charge and assist the Hospital Manager.
To ensure effective, fair people management practices throughout the Hospital.
Set and manage performance targets for the teams.
Effective leadership and people management
Demonstrate visible leadership in respect of LHC values, operating model, Nursing strategy and image of the profession, actively sponsor LHC initiatives and projects to ensure continued and improved productivity.
Drive and manage all people related processes within unit.
Effective relationship building with internal and external stakeholders
Promote and maintain productive, effective support to all employees.
To effectively provide feedback regarding customer complaints.
Market the image of the nurses and assist the team of doctors.
Build and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders (i.e. HOD’s, nabling functions, patients, family members, service providers etc.) through ongoing communication and feedback.
Build and maintain productive relationships with doctors by agreeing professional code of conduct, driving and monitoring effective communication regarding positive patient outcomes, functioning as an advocate for LHC and communicate impact of industry challenges on the Nursing profession.
Effective management of all training programmes related to learners and qualified staff
Actively participate in the selection process of learners and clinical training specialists.
Ensure effective utilization of a knowledgeable administrative resource for transactional work.
Requirements
Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
Certified qualification in operating theatres would be advantageous.
Management experience (Nursing Standard Manager or Theatre Manager).
Current registration with the South African Nursing Council essential.
Relevant experience in theatre complex to meet the critical outputs.
Proven leadership and people management skill would be an advantage.
Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage
