A vacancy exists for a Porter in Theatre, based at Life Hilton Hospital, reporting to the Theatre Matron.

 

Critical Outputs

Safe transporting of all patients from wards for surgery and return them to wards/units post operatively

Assist with making of theatre beds and collecting beds for patients returning to specialised units like

High/ICU, and return empty beds to respective wards/units

They will also be involved in restocking of the fluid warmer with intravenous fluids

They will collect clean linen (bed-sheets and blankets) from house-keeping for the theatre complex every morning

They will be responsible for dump dusting in the pre-operative area as well as in the recovery room. And the consignment room.

When the unit is not busy they will be empowered to work in cssd so they can learn.

Run errands related to theatre and our doctors whether it be collecting and dropping off of documents.

Equipment room – neaten and damp dust equipment.

Scrub area - replenish soaps and brushes during the course of the day.

Replenish specimen bottles in Theatres.

Other tasks as assigned by the Theatre Matron

 

Requirements

 

Matric / Grade 12

Previous experience in a Theatre environment is advantageous

Must be able to work shifts, including night duty, weekends and public holidays

Must be physically fit due to the nature of the job

Must display a pleasant disposition and take pride in their appearance

Must understand and display patient centric principals

Working knowledge of MS Office Products an advantage (Word, Excel)
