A vacancy for a Porter has become available at Life Kingsbury Hospital, Cape Town.

This position reports to Shaun Lawrence, Services Manager and will be part of a professional team that is continuously striving for the highest standards of quality in healthcare.

Critical Outputs

Professional interaction with clients.
Transport patients from reception to wads and vice versa
Assist patients with wheelchair from vehicles to reception, emergency unit and via stretcher to respective wards from emergency unit.
Porter patients requiring assistance on discharge from nursing unit or treatment area to hospital exit/vehicle.
Check wheelchairs for cleanliness and whether in need of repairs.
To collect and record all prescriptions cards, credits and requisitions from the wards.
To record and deliver ethical and surgical stock to wards safely, securely and timeously.
Moving furniture, stores and medical equipment safely.
Setting up of venues for meetings and functions.
Transferring files, specimen samples and pharmacy boxes to different areas in the hospital.
Movement of cylinders of gas within the hospital.
Performing general administrative and other related duties as requested.

Requirements

Matric
Physically fit, possess physical strength for heavy boxes, drive and energy
Experience in working in customer service/dealing with customers
Experience in working in healthcare will be an advantage
Able to work in a team
Responsible, meticulous and efficient.
Good time management with the ability to work under pressure, independently and in a team.
Ability to work shifts on a rotational basis. Night shift will be required
