Description
Job Purpose
The Solar Panel Cleaner is responsible for cleaning and maintaining photovoltaic (PV) solar panels on ground-mounted systems, rooftops, and carport installations to maximize energy production and system efficiency. The role requires adherence to company procedures, client requirements, and all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards while ensuring work is completed safely and professionally.
Key Responsibilities
Clean PV modules using approved equipment and methods, conduct pre-start inspections, identify hazards, and complete Risk Assessments and Daily Safe Task Instructions (DSTIs) before work begins. Safely perform cleaning on rooftop, ground-mounted, and carport systems using appropriate fall protection equipment where required. Inspect panels for visible defects, including cracks, hotspots, loose clamps, damaged cables, and excessive soiling, and report any abnormalities to the Site Supervisor. Maintain cleaning equipment, ensure good housekeeping, accurately complete job documentation, assist with transporting equipment, report incidents or unsafe conditions immediately, and participate in toolbox talks, safety meetings, and training. Work efficiently as part of a team while maintaining high productivity and quality standards.
Health & Safety
Comply with the Occupational Health and Safety Act, company HSE procedures, and client-specific site rules. Wear the required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), use ladders, harnesses, lifelines, and anchor systems correctly, stop work if unsafe conditions exist, and ensure no damage is caused to PV modules, mounting structures, or electrical equipment during cleaning.
Minimum Requirements
Grade 10 or equivalent (Grade 12 preferred), experience in solar panel or industrial cleaning is advantageous, physically fit, comfortable working outdoors and at heights, with a valid driver's license. Working at Heights and medical fitness certificates are preferred. Must be willing to travel to project sites.

Strong safety awareness, attention to detail, reliability, good communication and teamwork, physical stamina, ability to follow procedures, and a professional approach when interacting with clients.
Working Conditions & KPIs
The role involves outdoor work in varying weather conditions, frequent travel, work at heights, and occasional overtime or weekend work. Performance is measured by productivity, quality of cleaning, customer satisfaction, zero equipment damage, safety compliance, accurate documentation, attendance, punctuality, and incident-free performance.
Salary R6000 - R7000 per month depending on Experience (Excluding overtime)
