We are seeking a visionary and results-driven Strategic Lead to help shape the future of our organisation, drive sustainable growth, and enhance our impact. This is a senior-level position designed for a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between high-level vision and operational execution. The Strategic Lead will spearhead the development of strategic plans, identify new opportunities for partnership, and ensure organisational alignment with our mission.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning: Lead the annual and multi-year strategic planning processes, aligning programmatic activities with organisational mission and funding opportunities.

Growth and Partnerships: Develop and implement strategic partnerships and business development plans to secure corporate and grant funding, aimed at scaling our impact.

Organisational Development: Provide senior level leadership to strengthen systems, organisational flow, and performance monitoring.

Impact Evaluation: Work with Monitoring and Evaluation teams to collect data, analyse environmental constraints, and produce evidence based reporting to inform decision making.

Leadership Engagement:Collaborate with the Executive Team and Board to identify risks, opportunities, and strategic initiatives.

Requirements

Master’s degree in environmental governance, social sciences, public policy, development, or equivalent.

Minimum of 8 years’ experience in a senior management role within the NGO/NPO sector, specifically leading strategy or development.

Minimum of 10 years’ experience in environmental justice, advocacy, governance or civil society leadership.

Demonstrated strategic leadership experience within NGOs, social movements or public interest organisations.

Strong understanding of South African political, environmental and policy contexts.

Experience engaging with funders, donors and multi-stakeholder networks.

Proven ability to guide teams, lead reflection and manage complex organisational dynamics.

Proven track record in securing funding and managing high-value relationships with donors and corporate partners.

Deep understanding of the South African non-profit landscape and socioeconomic context.
