Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a Ward Clerk/Stock controller at the Neurosurgical Ward Life Rosepark Hospital in Bloemfontein, reporting to the Unit Manager; Candice Swartz. The successful candidate will contribute towards the optimal functioning of the nursing team through effective stock management and administrative support to the nursing team.

Critical Outputs
Ensure optimal service levels whilst understanding and striving to achieve set targets.
To ensure the speedy and effective execution of non-nursing activities.
Set up and maintenance of preferred stock levels, and daily ordering of stock to ensure quality. pharmaceutical supply service.
Ensuring accurate receiving and receipting of surgical stock.
Asset management to ensure security of stock and to minimize loss.
Set-up preference cards and ensure compliance.
Active involvement in stock-takes and cycle counts
Quarterly stocktaking
Assist with non-recoverable utilization.
Assist with managing operational efficiencies identified.
Monitoring expiry dates of all items and managing as per protocol.
Ensuring that stock is always available.
Capturing and handling of product complaints
Attend meetings and in-service training as scheduled.
Ensuring a safe environment in all areas of the unit through staying up to date with safety standards and protocols.
Knowledge of emergency plans and actions.
Elimination of medico legal risks through the correct identification and filing of patient’s documentation.
Live up to the Quality principles.
Professional secrecy and discretion during contact with customers and colleagues.
Ensuring of effective communication between customers and colleagues.
Administrative support to the Unti Manager as arranged.

Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent
Excellent communication and Interpersonal skills a prerequisite.
Sound knowledge on stock control in a hospital environment will be an advantage
Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges and role players would be an advantage.
Experience in dealing with customers is essential.
General administrative experience – at least 1 year
Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel, word) is essential.

Competencies

Competencies required are strong interpersonal skills, team player, very energetic, performance orientated and able to work within a multidisciplinary team.
Must be able to work under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
A minimum of one-years’ experience in Theatre is essential.
Must be able to work day or night duty.
Must be able to do Standby Duties after hours, Public Holidays & weekends when required.
