The Department of Rehabilitation and Dental Sciences, Faculty of Sciences requires the
following services of a part- time clinical preceptor in Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics for
student accompaniment during clinical placement.
Critical Performance Areas
• Clinical accompaniment of Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics students in a various health
care instructions and clinical learning facilities.
• Facilitation of simulated skills teaching and learning.
• Liaison and maintain effective relationships with managers and health care providers in
clinical area.
• Maintain a conducive teaching in and learning environment in clinical practice in the
Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics practise.
• Perform administrative tasks related to key performance areas.
• Assisting students in all practical and clinical subjects.
• Set up appointments with medical facilities for the clinical exposure/visits of Medical
Orthotics and Prosthetics students.
• Arranging the transportation and roasters for clinical exposure visits.
• Supervision of student practical and clinical training sessions.
• Submission of clinical exposure report at practical sites monthly for Medical Orthotics and
Prosthetics students.
• Compiling of practical and clinical training materials for sessions.
• Contribute to academic and administrative tasks within the Medical Orthotics and
Prosthetics program.
• Be involved in community engagement.

Minimum Requirements
• BSc/BHSc Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics (4-year degree) / (Hons) / BTech degree in
MOP.
• Proficiency in MS Office and other computer programs.
• Full proficiency in English is a prerequisite.
• Registration as a Medical Orthotics and Prosthetist with the HPCSA
• First AID Level 2 compliant
• Work experience in a Medical Orthotics and Prosthetics environment and with students
would be an advantage.
Recommendation
• Relevant clinical experience of a minimum of 3 years in a Medical Orthotics and
Prosthetics environment
