Description

Applications are invited for a Ward Clerk position in ICU at Life Knysna Private Hospital, reporting to the ICU Unit Manager, Nonhlanhla Langeni. The successful candidate will contribute towards the optimal functioning of the nursing team through effective interdepartmental liaising, communication and administrative support to the nursing team.

Critical Outputs
Ensuring optimal service levels whilst understanding and striving to achieve targets.
Ensuring the speedy and effective execution of non-nursing activities and provide general administrative support, including managing schedules and ordering supplies.
Entering patient information into relevant systems, coordinating patient admissions and discharges and managing accurate patient records.
Attending meetings and in-service training as scheduled.
Ensuring a safe environment in all areas of the unit through staying up to date with safety standards and protocols.
Knowledge of emergency plans and actions.
Elimination of medico legal risks through the correct identification and accurate filing of patient’s documentation.
Maintaining a positive appearance and behavior, within and outside hospital relation.
Acting as a friendly and helpful point of contact for patients, visitors and other hospital staff and facilitating communication between different departments.
Maintaining professional secrecy and discretion during contact with customers and colleagues.
Ensuring accurate stock management and billing including assisting with stock takes /cycle counts.
Assisting with document control in the unit and adhere to all work policies and procedures
Assisting with ad-hoc administrative requests as requested.

Requirements

Matric Certificate
Previous general administrative experience of at least 1 year.
Hospital administrative experience will be advantageous.
Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel, word) is essential
