Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable PVC Millwright to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing machinery used in the production of PVC products such as pipes, fittings, and profiles. This role requires a strong combination of mechanical, electrical, and fault-finding expertise within a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Repairs
Perform routine and preventative maintenance on PVC production equipment, including extruders, mixers, cutters, and conveyors
Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults and carry out necessary repairs
Replace worn or damaged components such as bearings, belts, motors, and gearboxes
Installation & Commissioning
Install new PVC manufacturing machinery and equipment
Align and calibrate machines for optimal performance
Assist with commissioning and testing of production lines
Troubleshooting
Identify causes of breakdowns in extrusion and processing equipment
Use diagnostic tools to resolve electrical and mechanical issues efficiently
Respond promptly to faults to minimize production downtime
Production Support
Work closely with machine operators to ensure smooth production
Adjust machinery to improve efficiency and product quality
Monitor equipment performance during production runs
Safety & Compliance
Adhere to all workplace health and safety standards and procedures
Ensure machinery complies with regulatory requirements
Maintain a clean and safe working environment
Documentation
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and repair records
Report recurring issues and recommend improvements
Minimum Requirements
Trade qualification as a Millwright (Red Seal or equivalent)
Proven experience in a manufacturing environment (PVC/plastics extrusion preferred)
Strong knowledge of:
Mechanical systems (gearboxes, pumps, bearings)
Electrical systems (motors, PLCs, sensors)
Pneumatics and hydraulics
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and under pressure
Equipment Exposure
PVC extrusion machines
Mixers and blenders
Cooling systems and vacuum tanks
Cutting and finishing equipment
Conveyors and material handling systems
Working Conditions
Industrial manufacturing environment
Exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery
May require standby duties and emergency call-outs
Preferred Experience
Experience with extrusion lines and plastic processing
Basic PLC troubleshooting (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley)
Welding and fabrication skills
